Weekly Meeting report 28 April 2008

Report by Secretary, PP Don

1.President Precha opened the meeting and Sergeant at Arms Rtn Stephen introduces visiting Rotarians and guests.

2. President Precha invites Rotarians and Guests to dinner.

2. President Preecha invites Moryoon Satthabutr, MD Assistant Hospital Director of the Bangkok hospital, Pattaya to introduce his plan to start the second phase of the cataract operations for needy Thai patient. He stated that Pichit Kangwolkij, MD Bangkok Hospital director fully supports this worthy plan.

3. PP Niels reported on the meeting on the 4 th May at this office about the plan to cooperate with Buriram sister club and establish a matching grant for their club. We will wait for a suggestion from their club in this matter.

Rtn George suggested introducing a plan to explain the method of growing three rice crops per year with a new farming system. Rtn George will gather the needed information and present it to us for review. This plan could be of great interest for the farmers in Buriram area.

PP Niel reported that the two matching grants are OK by RI and ready for implementation.

4. President Preecha suggested that we approach the upcoming new Mayor Ittipol to become an Honorary member of our club. President Preecha submitted a letter to Mayor Ittipol to invite him to visit our club and accept our membership.

5. Our attendance at the District Assembly was with 19 members and the knowledge of Club Methods and laws were absorbed by all attendees.. Over 400 Rotarians were present for the passing of the Governorship to Peter Malholtra.

6. President Preecha thanks all members for their kind assistance and work for the past year and welcomes President elect Gerard to assume the post of President,Preecha requests members to carry on with the works that we have started this year.

7. Charter President Nick of the Marina club spoke of the plans in Pattaya to assist the needy Myanmarians in their plyth and danger of illnesses in the aftermath of the deadly cyclone. Clubs in Pattaya have donated cash to a Rotarian to go to Myanmar to help directly with need cash and supplies. Rtn Theo noted that we should be careful on our assistance and make sure of transparency. Mayor Ittipol will establish a city wide help operation to help by direct help from the organizations and citizens of Pattaya.

8. President Preecha closes the meeting and bids all attendees a good night.
