Report by Secretary, PP Don
1. President Elect Gerard opened the meeting and acting Sergeant at Arms Rtn John Coughtrie introduces visiting Rotarians and guests (Rotarian Stephen was on business in Phuket).
2. President Elect Gerard invites Rotarians and Guests to dinner.
3. International service Chairman PP Niels announced the proposed matching grant with the United States clubs have been approved for our club’s project with the Mercy Center computer and library facilities.
The project will supply needed equipment and books for the needy children and local students. Our club will be the host club to ensure the project is completed and maintained to good standards.
4. President Elect Gerard introduced the organizer ,Paul McGarry of the charity Art exhibition at the Tamarind Tree estate for the showing of the fine art of Charlle Sodprasert,Paramat Lueng-On and Paul McGarry. A contribution of ten per cent will be given to a worthy charity through the Rotary club of Pattaya each month at a new venue. The first exhibition will be held on the 15 March 2008.
5. Water purification school support for the local schools with Bangkok South Rotary club and a local sponser, Ramion Land to install a machine to give the students and teachers clean healthy drinking water. The organizing committee headed by President Preecha, PDG Jin, Secretary Don, Rtn Prarintorn and Rtn Suwana to get water samples from the school’s water supply.
6. PP Boonsurb reported about the District Conference at Nakorn Phanom on the 7,8, 9 March 2008. The general meeting voted on a District support fund to assist clubs in their effort with Financial support though District assistance.
Feb 23rd will be named special day of the birthday of Rotary International and our supporting day of needy communities.
7. Our guest speaker,Dr Salam Hoshang spoke of his aims and goals to give Pattaya a better International name in the health tourist and investors from the Middle East and Europe. He spoke of how we can change the views of Pattaya as a shady city into a city of many clean tourist sights and a very good area for investment and living healthy, through good weather plus great Thai food.
8. Visiting Phoenix Rotarian Franky Lochbrunner exchanged banner with President Elect Gerard and welcomed his new club charter on the 1st of march 2008.
