The Rotary Club of Bangkapi was chartered on July 17th 1968, sponsored by the Rotary Club of Bangkok with Rotarian Dr. Fred Ayer and Dr. Tipp Mongkollungsana.
The first Lunch meeting was held at the Manhattan Hotel at a cost of Baht 35.- per head, during those days there where only three Rotary clubs in Bangkok, namely the Bangkok Club, the Dhonburi Club and the Bangkok South Club.
Something worth mentioning is that His Majesty the King has kindly graced two of the Rotary Bangkapi fund raising, namely in 1968/69 (Pres. Dr. Tipp) and 1969/70 (Pres. Prof Insee).
The weekly luncheon meeting remained at the Manhattan Hotel till 1980, after then meetings where held at the former Siam Intercontinental Hotel until its closure in 2000 to make way for the now new Paragon Shopping Center. From then onwards till today’s date all the luncheon meetings are held at the Grand Hyatt Erawan Hotel every Tuesday starting the fellowship at 12.00 noon.
