History of the Rotary Club of Pattaya

The Rotary Club of Pattaya was founded on 5. August 1972 and was Chartered on 19. November 1972. Club code number 16290, Zone 6 in R.I. District 3340.

We are happy to welcome any visiting Rotarians to the weekly meeting of the Rotary Club of Pattaya, the "Mother Club" of Rotary in Pattaya. Our club conducts the weekly meetings bi-lingual in Thai and English.

We meet every Monday at 19.00 at "Town-in-Town Hotel" on Pattaya Central Road. The meeting includes a hot and cold buffet dinner. The dinner ticket is 200 baht for visitors.

Our President for year 2006/07 is Niels Colov. He is the owner of Dragon Enterprises Co. Ltd. Publisher of “Pattaya People Weekly”, the leading Pattaya newspaper as well as the “Pattaya People Channel” a 24 hour TV channel with news and information about Pattaya. He also has various other business interests in Pattaya. Although he originates from Copenhagen, Denmark, President Niels has been a resident of Pattaya for over 25 years. He was inducted as a member of Rotary in May 1988 and has held many positions since then including Presidency of the Rotary Club of Jomtien-Pattaya.

The immediate Past President of our club for year 2005/06 was Boonsueb Ea-Ukara. He is the owner of a Bookstore here in Pattaya.

The Past President for 2004/05 was Susiree Charnchailert, she is the owner of two Vegetarian Restaurants and two Traditional Thai Massage Institutes, the massage is performed by blind people.

Rotary in Thailand was established in 1930 with the charter of the Rotary Club of Bangkok. There are 4 districts in Thailand, 3330, 3350, 3360 and our district 3340. There are a total of 290 Rotary clubs in Thailand with (Figures as of July 2006) 6934 Rotarians. We have 63 clubs in our district with a total of 1264 Rotarians. The District Governor for 2006-07 is Peera Potipipith, a Rotarian from the Rotary Club of Udorn Thani.

  • Rotary Club of Sattahip – Thai speaking

The Rotary Club of Pattaya is the only bi-lingual (English/Thai) club.
