First fellowship of Rotary year 2007

The first Fellowship Party for the Rotary Club of Pattaya was held at the Town-in-Town Hotel, Central Pattaya Road, in the evening of Monday 9th July 2007.

In addition to the members of the Rotary Club of Pattaya there were also members from many nearby Rotary Clubs attended the occasion. The following clubs were represented: Rotary Club of Pattaya Marina, Laem Chabang, Sriracha, Ban Bueng, Taksin-Pattaya and Sattahip. They came to say farewell to the outgoing President of the Rotary Club Pattaya; PP Niels Colov, and welcome new President Preecha Peethong for 2007-2008.

A grand buffet was served to the guests by the hotel and there was a Filipino band performing with top class music, which lightened up the party even more.

A Rotary Youth Exchange Student from the United States of America; Jeff Greenfield, aged 18, from California who has been in Pattaya for 11 months stepped up to make a speech and to say farewell. Jeff is here as part of the Rotary Youth Exchange programme which has been going on in the Rotary Club of Pattaya for many years with the support from Rotary International. He has been studying at Pohitsamphan School, Naklua, and is very impressed with all that he has learnt while in Thailand – in fact, after only 11 months, he speaks extremely good Thai. Youth exchange students spend 12 months with a host Rotary Club and Jeff is about to leave Thailand to return home.

The MC of the evening, Sergeant At Arms, Rotarian Stephen Dickens, conducted the presentation of awards to Rotary members. Senior members made speeches of appreciation to the outgoing President Niels. It was also announced that during the time Niels was President, the club had succeeded to induct 27 new Rotarian members to the Club with a total of 57 Rotarians in the Rotary Club of Pattaya, making it the biggest club in the Rotary district 3340, which covers all Esarn and the Eastern Seaboard of Thailand. A record amount of money was raised and spent during the year on valuable community charity projects.

A birthday cake was brought out for the Rotarians who celebrate their birthday during this month. The very enjoyable night ended with a lucky draw with many exceptional prizes.
