On Wednesday 26th October 2005 thousands of people attended the opening night of the Royal London Circus which was located on 3rd Road in North Pattaya.
The proceeds from ticket sales for this opening night were donated by the Circus owner Mr L.B. Lee to 3 organisations for charity use. Namely The Rotary of Pattaya, The Pattaya Expats Club and The Isarn Association.
It was even more impressive that so many people turned out for this great evening as there had been torrential rain for most of the day. Emergency drainage work even had to be carried out at the circus site during the afternoon.
A host of VIPs were in attendance, including Mayor Niran Wattanasartsatorn, Deputy Mayor Ronnakit Aegesing, Deputy Mayor Wattana Jantanawaranon, Pattaya Council and representatives from the media.
The Royal London Circus show has traditional and modern acts. The quality of the artists - some are former participants of the Olympic games or prize winning Circus acts – was excellent. To realise the magnitude of this, the world's biggest touring Circus, the largest air conditioned Big Top (tent) in the World, can seat 5.000 people and there are over 100 artists from 19 different countries all over the world. As well as a small number of very well trained domestic type animals. The grand finale to the show is the world record breaking motorcycle stunt show.
It is believed that this is the first time a touring Circus has been to Thailand. The traditional Circus appeals to the whole family, young and old are able to enjoy the spectacle of Juggling, High Wire Trapeze, Magical, Comedy Stunt and other spectacular acts.
The night raised a total of B324,000 which will give B108,000 to The Rotary Club of Pattaya.
