Her Majesty Queen Sirikit Birthday celebrations
|

|
Saturday August 12th 2006 was a day of celebration for Her Majesty Queen Sirikit’s Birthday, combined with Thailand National Mothers Day celebrations. The celebrations were held in two parts. One in the morning at Banglamung, the other in the evening at the very popular Bali Hai Pier, Pattaya.
Many Rotarians from the Rotary Club of Pattaya attended a large two-hour ceremony held at the Banglamung Amphur Office near to Banglamung Police Station on Sukumvit Road which commenced at 8:00 am. Also in attendance were many top officials from the armed forces and local government, as well as many staff from different Civic departments, plus representatives from many businesses and hotels in the area attending to pay their respects to Her Majesty Queen Sirikit.

The organisation was impeccable for the many people who attended the ceremony. There were huge Blue and white marquee’s large enough to accommodate everyone and a fine looking band dressed in bright Orange costumes on hand to play the national anthem and other important Thai songs in celebration of the occasion.
The traditional nine Monks were in attendance to lead the prayers and to accept donations of food and flowers. There were also many media representatives in attendance to capture the atmosphere.
The celebrations went without a hitch and ran to a well-timed schedule thanks largely to the MC’s on the day.
The celebrations continued in the evening.
5:00 PM saw a marching procession to Bali Hai Pier from Pattaya Beach Road, with brass bands keeping time and adding to the atmosphere of the event.
7:00 PM was the beginning of the on-stage entertainment with singing and dancing, followed by a very long list of service clubs such as Rotary and Lions, charity clubs and fund raising organizations crossing the stage to pay homage to Her Majesty Queen Sirikit.
People turned out in their thousands to enjoy this event and to join in with the popular celebrations. The evening was topped off in fine style by some top quality fireworks in a great vibrant display of colour and sound to the delight of all present.
The Rotary Club of Pattaya and all its members wish her Majesty a Happy Birthday!
