His Majesty the King Birthday Celebrations 2006

 

A popular public holiday and celebrations were held on 5th December 2006 throughout Thailand to celebrate the 79th birthday of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej, the world's longest reigning monarch. His Majesty, also known as King Rama IX, ascended the throne on 9th June, 1946. Throughout his 60 year reign, The King has won a special place in the hearts of the Thai people through his devotion to the welfare and development of his subjects.

The occasion was marked by an outpouring of love and respect by Thai people throughout the kingdom. A traditional morning ceremony was held at Banglamung District Offices and was attended by many Rotarians from the Rotary Club of Pattaya.

His Majesty was born on a Monday, which is represented by the colour Yellow in Thai Culture and every one wore Yellow shirts as a sign of devotion and respect.
