VIP's, Officials and Dignitaries following the opening ceremony
On Thursday 7. September 2006, the new Pattaya Immigration Police Station was officially opened.
It is located in Jomtien Beach Road Soi 5, and replaces the Immigration Police Station in Soi 8, Pattaya Beach Road.
The new office was the vision of Superintendent of Pattaya Immigration Pol. Col. Ittipol Ittisarnronnachai and is arguably now the best such Immigration office in Thailand and possibly the world.
Thai dignitaries and important foreign figures alike joined together at the new building for the Buddhist blessing ceremony held to ensure good fortune and good luck.
Superintendent of Pattaya Immigration Pol. Col. Ittipol Ittisarnronnachai greeted hundreds of guests bearing flowers, fans, televisions and other gifts staring early in the morning. The distinguished guests in attendance included Thai Immigration Police Commissioner, Lieutenant General Suwat Tumrongsiskul, Pattaya Mayor Niran Wattanasartsatorn, Deputy Mayor Ronnakit Aegesing, Deputy Mayor Wirawat Khakai, Chonburi Provincial Police Commander, Pol. Maj. Gen. Anan Jareonchasri, Pattaya Police Chief, Colonel Somunk Changate and Banglamung Police Chief, Colonel Noppradon Sornsamran. Many members of the Rotary Club of Pattaya were also present to support this auspicious event.
The blessing ceremony was performed by nine monks from the Wat Suthawat located on Soi Nern Plub Wan at around 9:30 a.m. The time, date and number of monks taking part in the blessing were all carefully selected to give the proceedings as much fortune as possible.
After the initial mantra chant, Police Lieutenant General Suwat along with other dignitaries made offerings to the monks followed by the water blessing.
When the monks had finished thanks were given to the many supporters of the Immigration Police here in Pattaya. In all 35 individuals, including the President of Tha Rotary Club of Pattaya, Niels Colov, and the companies they represented were recognized and presented with a plaque for their generous and loyal support.
The new immigration office on Soi 5 is a state of the art building capable of handling thousands of customers each day. The facilities provide a conference room for officer education and information sharing that was previously impossible in the outdated building located on Soi 8 in Pattaya. The modernized office lifts Pattaya Immigration to the highest of standards found anywhere else in the world.
A tour of the new office and lunch were offered to all following the opening ceremony.
