On Monday evening 21 August 2006 in the Ballroom of the Town-in-Town Hotel off Central Pattaya Road, the Rotary Club of Pattaya played host to the members and club presidents of four other Rotary clubs in a Fellowship evening. These four clubs were Pattaya / Srirachi / Laemchabang / Taksin-Pattaya. The occasion was the first visit this Rotary year of the new District 3340 Governor, Khun Peera Potipipith and his delightful Rotary Ann (wife), Khun Ratana Potipipith.
Governor Peera’s visit afforded the club Presidents and their secretaries the opportunity to meet with him prior to the evening function. Each club President was able to offer an overview of the many projects their club has planned to raise funds for the many needy people and causes during the year 2006-2007. Governor Peera offered his support and many years of experience in advising or suggesting ways to assist the clubs to achieve their goals.
Once Governor Peera had been formally introduced and welcomed to the gathering by Past President Praphan Thinnarong, he was invited to give a reply speech during which he mentioned the following points.
- Rotary is a very special international organisation with a membership who put others before themselves.
- The membership is full of kind hearted people who feel the desire to help others who are less fortunate
- These members give freely of their own time and money with no anticipation of reward other than the self-satisfaction they feel from helping others
- The Governor was pleased that he had been able to give the club twenty five years of good service
- He was grateful for the vibrancy and present growth of Rotary in the Pattaya area and wished all Rotarian’s success in the future
Past District Governor Jin Srikasikorn then thanked Governor Peera for his many years of service, together with his continued service in his new position. The various club Presidents were invited on stage to present gifts to the Governor and his wife Rotarian Ann Ratana. This was a great photo opportunity and the invited media took advantage of it.
The last formal part of the evening was the induction and pinning ceremony of Khun Naulnooch Phetchaweeinto the Rotary club of Pattaya as its newest member. Rotarian Naulnooch was presented with her club pin and membership certificate by District Governor Peera.
Rotarian Naulnooch is the Owner/Manager of Tourist Radio Station 103.0 FM in Pattaya and is now a worthy member of Rotary who has already shown her commitment to the club.
At the conclusion of the Fellowship evening there was a pleasant surprise for everyone. One of the past students from Rotary International's Exchange program was introduced to offer a brief musical interlude. As an accomplished violist, Khun Atip Rattanawicha, who is the son of the President-Elect of the Rotary Club of Laemchabang, played two solo tunes beautifully much to the enjoyment and applause of everyone.
