Message from the President of the Rotary Club of Pattaya

It is with sincere respect that I, President Preecha Peethong have accepted the leadership of the Rotary Club of Pattaya, through working in harmony, we understand that changes,by what other perceive as negative into something positive.

Our club of 35 years has been a community leader in many civic and social developments that have been a great joy for our members and the City of Pattaya.

Our aiming for the future, through our past accomplishments is my goal for this Rotary year’s motto,” ROTARY SHARES’ Rotary shares is a two way street, in that we do request the community to give their support and ideas to our bilingual club of English/Thai. We are now 55 members of 15 nationalities that have different occupations and cultures, this gives us an interesting perspective on goals, problems and solutions.

I am asking the International Rotary family to join us here in Pattaya ,Thailand to make our Pattaya Peace city a reality for all men to live in a stress free happy world. We have the true vision with desire /planning then the commitment/faith with imagination/intuition,truth/honesty,creativity/flexibility but most of all we have a LOVE OF THE TASK.

Please feel free to contact us if you would like more information on how you can be directly involved in the ways of our LORD BUDDHA with loving kindness, compassion, symphitic joy and equanimility. There is such a joy in your heart when you receive a true smile for a grateful needy person. Thailand is the land of smiles.

Another President, Thomas Jefferson said, never spend your money before you have it and eternal vigilance is the price of liberty.

I thank our members for their support in my coming year and know we will be positive in our friendship and cooperation for our club and the public.

Yours in Rotary

President Preecha Peethong 2007/2008

THE ROTARY 4 WAY TEST.

From the earliest days of the organization, Rotarians were concerned with promoting high ethical standards in their professional lives. One of the world's most widely printed and quoted statements of business ethics is The 4-Way Test, which was created in 1932 by Rotarian Herbert J. Taylor (who later served as RI president) when he was asked to take charge of a company that was facing bankruptcy. This 24-word code of ethics for employees to follow in their business and professional lives became the guide for sales, production, advertising, and all relations with dealers and customers, and the survival of the company is credited to this simple philosophy. Adopted by Rotary in 1943, The 4-Way Test has been translated into more than a hundred languages and published in thousands of ways. It asks the following four questions:

"Of the things we think, say or do:

  • Is it the TRUTH?
  • Is it FAIR to all concerned?
  • Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?
  • Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?"
